IPTOP is a subgroup of World Physiotherapy. IPTOP includes the physiotherapy special interest groups in older adult health from 21 member country organisations representing over 11,000 physiotherapists. The prime purpose of physiotherapists working with older people is to maintain and/or restore function, activity and independence.
World Physiotherapy is a confederation of 121 national physiotherapy associations representing more than 625,000 physiotherapists worldwide. Subgroups within World Physiotherapy are an international affiliation of physiotherapy special interest groups from member organisations, established to exchange scientific knowledge and promote the advancement of physiotherapy in a specialty area. IPTOP was recognised as a subgroup of World Physiotherapy in 2003.
